About us
The castle that was built at the end of the last century by Grünfeld family is in Nagyveleg. The landowner who had Jewish roots gave the castle to
Lutheran congregation as donation in 1944. Unfortunately, the furnishment of the castle was totally destroyed during the World War II. A Lutheran
school was run by the congregation until secularization. After taking over by the council, the castle played an essential role in general education and
cultural life during decades. The great hall was used as a gym, a cinema, a ballroom, a scene of family and official events. There was a library, a club for the
elderly, a club for women, club for the youth, club for sports, etc. The Mayor's Office was operated here for some time. The Lutheran Church had a chance
to get back the castle for own goals in 1991.
Nowadays open-air schools, creative arts camps, school camps, family and official arrangements are organised besides own programmes. There are sport
facilities in the opposite sports field and in a modern gym located in the village house.
The castle has a stage in the great hall, rooms with bunk beds (21 beds), a dining room, a heater kitchen, male and female sanitaries for the campers
to have a fantastic holiday. The castle was rebuilt inside and outside in 2014 due to an application. There is a beautiful garden around the castle with a
possibility for setting up tents, so the number of accommodation can be extended to 60.
